Fairbanks's Holiday Market Season Peaks Before Thanksgiving. Here's the Doyon Estates Calendar.

October 29, 2026

KO Productions calls the Carlson Center "the Interior's premier location for trade shows," with over 43,000 square feet of floor space. For three days in mid-November, the Fairbanks Holiday Marketplace "utilizes every usable inch." Its own pitch lists handmade soaps, beaded jewelry and one-of-a-kind artwork, and KO Productions describes the event as the one that "marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season in Fairbanks."

In 2026 that beginning lands on November 13, two weeks before Black Friday. Doyon Estates sits off Phillips Field Road along the Chena River, and for residents planning holiday errands, the useful fact about 2026 is the order of the events. The biggest market comes two weeks before Thanksgiving. The most crowded single weekend is the one right before the holiday. Black Friday weekend is the third big moment. The first week of December opens with a Thursday and Friday bazaar in a building that shares the neighborhood's name.

November 13 to 15 is the main event

The 2026 Holiday Marketplace runs Friday, November 13, from noon to 7 p.m., Saturday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, November 15, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door, and children 12 and under get in free.

Last year's numbers explain why it comes first. In 2025, more than 180 vendors took part and more than 7,100 visitors came through over three days, according to the organizer. KO Productions also says booth space "typically sells out quickly." That makes mid-November the weekend with the widest selection under one roof. Later events draw on many of the same local makers, spread across smaller rooms.

The Friday hours matter for anyone working a standard day. A noon start and a 7 p.m. close leave an after-work window on a weekday, before the Saturday crowd shows up.

Hutchison High School's Holiday Bazaar runs Saturday, November 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3750 Geist Rd, so that Saturday has a second stop.

The week before: Tribal Hall and two Saturday starts

The calendar gets going before the Carlson Center fills up. The 44th Annual Athabascan Music Festival takes over Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall, 111 Clay St., November 5 through 7, running 1 p.m. to midnight each day. It features traditional fiddling, village bands and cultural dancing. It isn't a market, but it opens the venue that comes back into the shopping calendar two weeks later.

Saturday, November 7, has three morning bazaars, according to the Explore Fairbanks holiday bazaar roundup:

  • St. Nicholas Holiday Bazaar, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 707 St. Nicholas Dr.
  • Watershed Holiday Market, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Watershed Charter School, 4975 Decathlon Ave.
  • Christmas Bazaar, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fairbanks Lutheran Church, 1012 Cowles St.

November 19 to 22 is the most crowded stretch

After the Marketplace, the next week is the busiest on the calendar, and it begins on weekdays. The Tanana Chiefs Conference Annual Christmas Bazaar runs Thursday, November 19, and Friday, November 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall. Those are business hours on working days, so it takes a lunch break or a day off.

Then on Saturday, November 21, four events overlap:

Event Venue Saturday hours Sunday, Nov 22
North Pole High School Christmas Bazaar North Pole High School, 601 NPHS Blvd 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. None
Ryan Middle School Holiday Bazaar Ryan Middle School, 1450 Cowles St 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. None
Fall Bazaar Bentley Mall, 32 College Rd 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Northern Lights Winter Market Centennial Center in Alaskaland, 2300 Airport Way Noon to 6 p.m. 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The two school bazaars run on Saturday only and close at 4 p.m. The Bentley Mall and Centennial Center markets stay open later on Saturday and return on Sunday. Covering all four means starting with the school events and leaving the two-day markets for the afternoon or for Sunday.

There's also a new stop near the mall. Raising Cane's opened its first Fairbanks location with a Tuesday-morning celebration this month, as Alaska's News Source reported, after a two-year wait. The restaurant is at 286 Bentley Trust Road, less than a mile from Bentley Mall, and its locator lists a 10 a.m. daily opening, with hours until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Thanksgiving weekend runs in two rooms

The 7th Annual Black Friday Shopping Expo returns to the Carlson Center November 27 through 29, with vendors selling gifts, holiday décor, handmade items, clothing, jewelry and treats. Fairbanks Market & Events bills it as the Black Friday Shopping Expo & Gun Show. Hours are 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event listing on Last Frontier Events advertises more than 100 vendors, and the same site lists $5 admission at the door.

That vendor count is the clearest measure of the front-loaded season. The Black Friday Expo is advertising 100-plus vendors in the same building where the Holiday Marketplace drew more than 180 in 2025, two weeks earlier.

On Saturday, November 28, Fairbanks Arts holds its Handmade Holiday Market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Exhibit Hall at the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts in Pioneer Park, 2300 Airport Way. Along with local makers, the day includes musicians, free train rides, a charity "CommuniTree," and Pioneer Park's annual tree lighting. Admission to the market is free. Of all the November dates, this is the one with something for kids besides shopping.

December 3 to 5 opens the final month

December starts at 1 Doyon Place. The Doyon Arts & Crafts Bazaar runs at the Doyon Plaza Building Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, according to Explore Fairbanks. The Last Frontier Events listing shows only the Friday date. It describes the bazaar as a holiday arts and crafts market featuring Alaska Native artists, makers and local vendors with handmade goods and crafts. Because the two listings differ on Thursday, check with the host before making a weekday trip.

Like the TCC bazaar, it runs on weekdays during business hours. Of the two days, Friday has the stronger confirmation.

On Saturday, December 5, the Tanana Valley Farmers Market Holiday Bazaar brings the Carlson Center back into use from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is the last Carlson Center date on the Explore Fairbanks list, though the season continues after it. The Winter Solstice Holiday Bazaar runs December 11 and 12 at the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center, 101 Dunkel St. The Winterfest Bazaar at North Pole Plaza Mall on December 12 ends with fireworks at 6 p.m. The Naughty & Ice Handcrafted Market at West Valley High School follows on December 19.
